How a design project runs
Most of the worry about hiring a designer is not knowing what happens next. Here is the whole path, in order.
- Plan. We agree the pages, the wording and the photos you can supply, by WhatsApp or a short call. The package and price are written down before any work starts.
- Preview. We build the site and send you a private link. Open it on your own phone and laptop. You have paid nothing at this point.
- Two rounds of changes. Tell us what to move, rewrite or remove. We change it and you look again. Every package includes two rounds before launch. New pages or extra features are quoted separately.
- Approve, pay, launch. Once you approve, you pay the build price by DuitNow QR. We then work through our written launch checklist (security headers, privacy notice, accessibility, backups and speed) and put the site on your domain.
You can see the sites we have built before you decide, and the full price list is on the pricing page.
Designed for the phone in your customer's hand
Many people will open your site from a WhatsApp message, a Google result or a Facebook link, on a phone with a small screen and a patchy connection. So we design the narrow screen first and widen it for laptops afterwards, not the other way round. That means one clear column, large buttons, text you can read without zooming, and the phone number or WhatsApp button always within reach.
Speed
Simple sites are sent as ready-made pages, not assembled on the server for every visitor. We resize photos, keep fonts and scripts to what the page needs, and avoid sliders and pop-ups that slow a page for no gain. We do not quote speed scores for client sites, because they depend on the photos and content you supply; we check speed on every site before launch.
Accessibility
We aim for the WCAG 2.2 level AA standard: enough colour contrast, pages that work with a keyboard, descriptions for images, and headings in a sensible order. It helps older visitors and people using screen readers, and it helps everyone reading in bright sunlight. Our own approach is set out on the accessibility page.
What you supply and what you get
You supply
- Your text, or rough notes we can turn into plain text for simple pages.
- Photos you have the right to use, and your logo if you have one.
- Your domain name if you own one, or a choice of name if you need one.
- Your business details exactly as they should appear: name, address, phone, opening hours.
You get
- A designed, working site and a private preview link.
- Two rounds of changes before launch.
- HTTPS, a privacy notice and our written launch checklist.
- Backup copies of your site files.
- Your content, domain and, after payment, the finished design and files.
What we will not do
- Promise a Google ranking. Nobody can, and anyone who does is guessing.
- Ask for payment before you have seen and approved the preview.
- Invent testimonials, customer numbers or awards for your site. We will ask you for real ones, or leave the space out.
- Tie you in. You can stop hosting in any month and we send your website files within 14 days.
- Copy another business's text or design, or use photos nobody has the right to use.
How the four prices differ
The price depends on what the site has to do, not on how much we think you will pay.
| Package | Build price | What it covers | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small site | RM199 | 1 to 5 pages. Hosting RM15 a month. | A café, a tutor, a freelancer: who we are, what we offer, how to reach us. |
| Standard site | RM299 | Up to 10 pages. Hosting RM29 a month. | A clinic, workshop or small firm with several services and an FAQ. |
| Site with login or booking | RM499 | A simple backend. Hosting RM49 a month. | A salon or class that takes bookings, or a members-only page. |
| Custom portal | from RM799 | Custom backend, quoted after a chat. Hosting RM79 a month. | A portal with several kinds of user. See web development. |
Monthly hosting is separate and depends on the same size; what each hosting size includes is explained on its own page.
Affordable, and what that does not cover
The prices are low because the scope is small and fixed. We use simple, fast tools, we agree the pages before we start, and we do not sell extras you did not ask for. That is a different thing from cutting corners on security or accessibility, which every site gets.
Not included in a build price: your domain name, business email, professional photography, copywriting beyond simple text, and advertising or search campaigns. If you need one of these we will say so up front, quote it separately, or tell you honestly that we are not the right team.
DIY builder, freelancer, agency or R3L?
R3L is not always the right choice. This is how we see the options.
| Option | A good fit when | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| DIY site builder | You enjoy editing, want to change things daily, and your time costs less than a designer's. | Monthly fees that rise, templates that look like everyone else's, and a site that is hard to move away from. |
| Freelancer | You found one whose past work you like and who answers messages. | One person is a single point of failure. Agree in writing who owns the files and the domain. |
| Agency | You need a brand, photography, video and a larger team, and have a budget to match. | Long timelines and quotes far above a small site's needs. |
| R3L | You want a clear, fast, fixed-price site of a few pages, plus simple logins or bookings, and want to see it before paying. | We are a new four-person studio, so there is no long track record; judge the projects yourself. |
A large online shop with many products and card payments, a custom app for the app stores, work that needs a contracted response time at any hour, or a site you want to edit yourself every day. For those, a shop platform, a specialist or a DIY builder will serve you better, and we would rather say so now.
